The company began producing from the Mya North field on 15
July to kick off production operations at the vast Shwe (Gold) gas project.
The field is current producing 120 million cubic feet per
day of gas after four production wells were drilled last year.
However, Daewoo is looking to boost this to 500 MMcfd by the
end of next year when more production wells will be added.
The gas is currently being sold to China National Petroleum
Corporation. Daewoo and its partners will supply 500 million cubic feet of gas
per day for 30 years from 2013 through a pipeline to China's border province of
Yunnan.
Daewoo and its partners are planning to exploit the Shwe,
Shwe Phyu and Mya fields, which have estimated proven and probable recoverable
reserves independently put at a minimum 4.5 trillion cubic feet of gas.
Daewoo operates the project on 51% with local player Myanma
Oil Gas on 15%, Indian players ONGC and Gail on 17% and 8.5% respectively
and Korea's Kogas also on 8.5%.
