A township court in Yangon handed one-day imprisonment for a Thai
woman who was seized by the police at Yangon Airport as nine bullets
were found in her package, according to local newspaper 7Day Daily.
She was convicted of illegally holding arms on her entry into Myanmar
from neighbouring Thailand.
"The judge has made the verdict," a lawyer of Mingaladon Township
court confirmed.
According to a police officer of Mingaladon Police Station, she was
brought to the court on 16 August and had been released on bail.
The verdict was passed on 23 August cautiously to not hamper
Myanmar-Thailand friendly ties, says the report.
The offence carried one-day imprisonment and K 0.1 million, according
to the police office.
The convicted weapon smuggler was identified by the police as Gomes
Suraphanapa and took MAI flight to Myanmar on 13 August.
