The Myanmar Construction Summit, on 2-3 December, 2013 in Yangon is supported by
Ministry of Construction and marked by an opening address by His Excellency U Kyaw
Lwin, Union Minister of Construction to gain insights on the key trends, challenges and
opportunities in Myanmar's growing construction sector.
This summit gives an insight into – how Yangon would look in the next 3-5 years' time? And
what would be the outlook for Public Works and Housing Construction in the country?
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) answers the former with a session on –
'Urban Planning and Development Initiative for Yangon City'; while a senior official of
Department of Human settlements Housing Development, Ministry of Construction
addresses the latter through updates on new projects and upgrading/ refurbishing works via a
paper titled, 'Public Works and Housing Construction Outlook in Myanmar'.
Plus, Ms. Cheah Swee Gim, Director, Kelvin Chia Yangon discusses the 'Building Basics:
Legal Considerations for Construction Businesses in Myanmar'.
