French company opens new office in Myanmar's Yangon

French engineering organization Technip on Thursday officially opened its new office in Myanmar's Yangon.


Managing Director of Technip Jean Francois-Redon, French Ambassador to Myanmar Thierry Mathou and officials from the company were present at the opening.


"We hope to develop a strong presence in the country over the long term and contribute not only to the future of its oil and gas industry but also to the development of the country, "KK Lim, Senior Vice President of Technip said.


"We will emphasize on creating jobs and developing local talents through skills and technology transfers," he added.


So far, Technip have employed 20 local engineers for the Yangon office, with plans to increase staff in the Yangon Office by the end of 2014.


Technip is a world leader in project management, engineering and construction for the energy industry.
