MYANMAR GOVERNMENT EXEMPTS NEARLY 2000 BRANDS FROM IMPORT LICENSES

Myanmar government has exempted nearly 2000 brands from acquiring
licenses to import to Myanmar as from September 9, according to local
newspaper the Voice report.

The government has already allowed 166 products to import into the
country without the need of the import license since March 1, deputy
director-general Nyunt Aung of Trading and Consumer Affairs Department
under the Commerce Ministry.

The department released the names of 1928 brands that need not apply
for import licenses.

The products include utensils, automobiles and related spare parts,
bathing accessories and sports gears.

According to the press release by the department, all other brands
beyond the specified 1928 brands need to apply for import licenses.
