MYANMAR PRESIDENT CONGRATULATES GAMLANG RAZI HIKERS

Myanmar president Thein Sein congratulated the team of hikers who
successfully landed the summit of Gamlang Razi, the virgin mountaintop
on which nobody set a foothold.

The president sent a congratulatory letter to US-Myanmar friendship
hiking team for their successful expedition to the highest terrain of
the country.

His letter praised the efforts of the team to reveal the hidden
beauties of the country and to promote Myanmar and US friendly ties.

It takes 35 days to reach at the foot of the mountain on foot and only
nine days to reach the summit, Pyae Phyo Aung, one of the hikers,
said.

The expedition was sponsored by Htoo Foundation, Myanmar Phonyin Tour
Agency, Air Bagan, Asian Green Development Bank, Aureum Palace Hotel
Treasure Resort.

According to official figures, Khakaborazi in northernmost part of the
country was known to be the highest mountain in Myanmar.

According to new surveys by the team and others, the Gamlang Razi
could now be said one of the highest terrain in Myanmar.
