Imphal to debut on international aviation map on November 21

Imphal's Tulihal Airport will debut on the international airport map on November 21, coinciding with the opening ceremony of the Manipur Sangai Festival 2013 when Myanmar's private airline Golden Myanmar make its maiden landing at Imphal.
After the Union Cabinet gave its consent to give international airport status to Tulihal Airport on Wednesday last, the State Government has launched hectic preparations to enable Golden Myanmar land its aircraft at the airport on November 21 .
The State Government is also actively consulting with the Government of India on the proposal of issuing visas on arrival at Moreh and Tulihal Airport starting from November 21 .
Moreover, the Chief Minister has started the spade work to urge the Ministry of Home Affairs to lift Protected Area Permit (PAP) system from Manipur for continued imposition of PAP would undermine all the efforts of upgrading Tulihal to the status of an international airport.

With regard to the Golden Myanmar's maiden flight to Manipur, representatives of KB Enterprises and Nest Advertising Agency, who visited Myanmar recently called on Chief Minister O Ibobi together with Principal Secretary O Nabakishore this morning.
The meeting deliberated on all prerequisites of an international flight.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has convened another meeting on November 4 to discuss all the details with relevant officials.
November 21 would be a historical landmark because not only Mandalay-Imphal light service would be introduced on the day but also Myanmar's Saigang region Chief Minister U Tha Aye and Mandalay region Chief Minister U Ye Myint would land at Imphal for the first time with a team of Ministers, traders and officials.
Cultural troupes from Myanmar, Thailand, Assam and Sikkim would take part in the Manipur Sangai Festival 2013.Moreover, six Chinese officials led by the Vice-Governor of China's Zheijiang province would attend the festival.
Notably, beautification and repairing work is going on in full swing along Airport Road, Raj Bhavan and Hapta Kangjeibung with a view to give a clean and suave picture to the festival.
