It was organized by Chinese organizers who had undertook the opening
and closing ceremonies in 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Myanmar president Thein Sein, Laotian president Choummalay Sayasone
and other ASEAN and Chinese leaders attended the opening ceremony
which took place Wednesday evening.

The event is expected to be attended by about 30,000 audiences.

Myanmar is hosting the SEA Games in three major cities Nay Pyi Taw,
Yangon and Mandalay and Ngwehsaung beach.

Myanmar is currently leading the medal tally with 18 golds before the
grand opening of the major sports event of the Southeast Asian bloc.
