Bound body of Myanmar national found in bushes

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Jan 1 — The body of a Myanmar national was found, with his legs and hands tied, in bushes at Kampung Masjid Timah, here today.

Penang CID chief SAC Mazlan Kesah said the body, identified as that of Sadnoor Abdullah, 28, was found by a villager at 12 noon.

"The man was walking past the area to a sundry shop when a stinking smell piqued his curiousity and led him to the body. He immediately contacted the police who found the hands and feet tied directly to the neck," he told reporters at the scene, here today.

He said preliminary investigations showed signs of assault on the head with a blunt object, and the victim was believed to have died about 10 hours before the body was found.

Mazlan said police believed the man, fully clad in jeans and T-shirt, was killed at another location before his body was dumped in the bushes but police would carry out further investigations to determine the motive for the killing.

He urged anyone with information on the case to contact the closest police station while the body had been sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem. — Bernama
