Print There would be no environmental impacts of the natural gas pipelines in Myanmar, state media quoted a high ranking energy official as saying Tuesday.
Deputy Minister of Energy U Aung Htoo made the remarks at the ongoing session of the parliament's Lower House in Nay Pyi Taw Monday in response to a question about public safety concern over possible leak of the natural gas pipelines laid in the country.
"Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) was installed to tackle the possible leak problem as quick as possible," he told the parliament.
With foreign investment, there are several natural gas pipelines laid or being laid in Myanmar in accordance with international standard including Myanmar-Thai and Myanmar-China gas pipelines as well as domestic ones.
So far, there has been no report of major incident with regard to these pipelines.
