Myanmar National Found Murdered After Drunken Brawl

MELAKA, Jan 1 (Bernama) -- A Myanmar national was found dead, believed to have been murdered by three fellow countrymen, after a drunken brawl at the Medan Selera, Plaza Pandan Malim, here early this morning.

Melaka CID chief ACP Raja Shahrom Raja Abdullah said police received a call from a member of the public at 2.40am and headed to the scene before finding Kyaw Swe Oo, 25, in a pool of blood due to injuries in his ears.

He said initial investigations found the victim, a worker at the food court, was involved in a fight with the three men before he was stabbed with a sharp object.

"Based on the wound and the blood-stained weapon which was found not far from where the body of the victim was found, we believe the victim was stabbed with a pair of scissors," he said in a statement here today.

He said the suspects had fled after the incident, but police managed to arrest one of the suspects, aged 29, who also worked at the food court, at about 4.30am.

He said the suspect would be remanded for seven days starting today to facilitate investigations while police were still tracking down two other suspects who were involved in the brawl.

The case is investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
