UN calls for investigation into alleged Rohingya massacre

The United Nations says it has credible information that 48 Rohingya Muslims were killed near the town of Maungdaw in apparent retaliation for the death of a police officer.

Sporadic violence against Muslims over the past two years has claimed hundreds of lives and displaced 140,000 people.

The spokeswoman for the UN Human Rights office, Ravin Shamdasani, says there's been no improvement for Rohingyas since a general outbreak of violence almost two years ago.
