YANGON EXPERIENCES POWER CUTS ON WEEKENDS

Yangon is about to face occasional electricity shortages as the power cables in the region will get major repairs, according to Daily Eleven report.


According to a press release by Yangon Electricity Supply Board, the repair works aimed at reducing power outages and shocks in the future would cause some short periods of electricity outages in the commercial city.


The electricity supply infrastructures in the Southeast Asian country is infamous for being dilapidated.
"We are conducting repair works on every weekend to upgrade power stations and power cables, to reduce electricity shocks and power outages," said an official of the Yangon City Development Committee, the municipal body of the largest city of Myanmar.


The source also said sorry for inconvenience caused by electricity cuts.
The routine power cuts usually take place between 8 am to 3 pm and takes about seven hours.
Most townships in the region experienced the electricity outages on January 4-5 and will experience them on upcoming weekends.
