81-year-old woman, missing from retirement home, found in Johnsonville

Five hours after she was last seen, but less than one hour after police reported her missing, an 81-year-old woman from the Malvina Major Retirement Village was found safe and well. Two media releases from the police tell her story.


News from NZ Police at 3.30pm

Wellington Police are searching for Rose Jenkins Drew, an 81 year old woman who is missing from Malvina Major Retirement Village at 134 Burma Road in Johnsonville. Mrs Drew suffers from dementia and is not familiar with the area having only lived there for one week. She was last seen at the retirement village at 10:30am today.


Police have concerns for her safety and ask residents of the Burma Road area and surrounding neighbourhoods to check there properties and surrounds for her.


Mrs Drew is approximately 5ft tall, she has a hunch and walks slowly in a shuffle like manner. She was last seen wearing a purple scarf, a green merino jersey with a collar. She is also possibly wearing glasses and a grey and white tartan hat.

Mrs Drew has been located safe and well near where she went missing. Police thank the public for their assistance in locating her.
