Final salute to Sgt Bayong Burma at Anglican cemetery

SRI AMAN: Sadness veiled the Sutong Anglican Christian Cemetery during the burial of the late Sergeant Bayong Burma yesterday.

His body was brought from his home at Taman Desa Indah, Sri Aman by members of 4 Armour Royal Penrissen Camp, Kuching for the burial ceremony at 10am.

His casket was lowered into the grounds by members of 4 Armour Royal Penrissen Camp, Kuching and given the final salute at 10.30am after a prayer service.

His widow Grace Galang, 31, could not hold her tears as her husband's body was lowered into the ground.

She was accompanied by her three sons, Aldraien Mark, 11, Benedict Moses, 8, and Casper Tukas, 10 months.

Among those present was commanding officer Lt Col Shahruddin Ariffin.

Bayong, 36, was killed after the tank he was on with three others overturned at Km232 at South Plus highway at Kuala Kangsar recently. Also killed was Cpl Che Muhammad Fatanah Che Ismail, 31, while L Cpl Freedy Banabas, 29, and Cpl Mohd Syarifudin Abdullah, 36, were injured.

All the victims were heading for shooting training when the accident occurred.
