Mynanmar's First FBO Opens

Myanmar received its first FBO this week when Myanmar MJets Business Aviation Center (MMBAC) opened at Yangon International Airport. The new venture is a partnership between Bangkok-based business jet and FBO operator MJets and the WahWah Group, which provides aircraft handling and aircraft parts distribution in Myanmar, with support from Myanma Airways, the country's national airline.

The newly built FBO represents an interesting development for the Asian country that up until recently was subject to international trade sanctions. Located next to the airport's domestic passenger terminal, the two-story facility has dedicated on-site customs and immigration clearance and a security checkpoint with baggage x-ray. It includes a 2,800-sq-ft executive lounge with shower facility and business center, as well as four crew day rooms and a flight planning office.

In addition, there is a 100-space parking lot adjacent to the building for the exclusive use of MMBAC customers, and the FBO has access to the 32,000-sq-ft Myanma Airways hangar for aircraft storage. The facility is expected to handle 300 business-aircraft flights this year, according to WahWah founder and CEO Ohn Myint.
