Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS)/Shan State Army (SSA)'s chairman Lieutenant General Yawd Serk discussed with National League for Democracy chairperson Aung San Suu Kyi on peace, federal system, and drug issues on Saturday.
During the thirty-minute meeting, Suu Kyi told the Shan armed group leader to always keep in touch with the NLD party and to inform her over situation in the RCSS/SSA area. She also wanted to submit the issues and requirements of this area to the Parliament, according to Colonel Sai Hla, spokesperson of RCSS/SSA.
"The presentation of the NLD central committee about the drug issue and our presentation is almost the same so she spoke of cooperating with us. We also discussed about the need to establish a federal state to have peace in our country. She said she would do her best to establish federal [system]. At the same time, she said she'll cooperate with all the ethnic races," said Colonel Sai Hla.
The Nobel Laureate also talked about the need for equality and unity in establishing peace, he added.
Lieutenant General Yawd Serk visited Nay Pyi Taw on June 11 at the invitation of President Thein Sein. He met with the President and discussed about cease-fire plan, holding political discussions, determination of areas for regional development, and cooperation on anti-narcotic tasks.
Yawd Serk arrived in Yangon on June 12 and met with Shan National League for Democracy chairman Khun Htun Oo. He also had dinner with Shan armed group leaders and Shan parties' leaders.
