Artists honour Bokalay Tint Aung with sculpture, painting ceremony




YANGON - Artists gathered at Sein Lan So Pyay Garden on Saturday to honour the veteran writer and film director Bokalay Tint Aung.


The event included sculptures and paintings from renowned artists such as Kyaw Kyaw Min, Thar San and Shwe Myint in honour of the 93-year-old veteran artist.


A giant mural of Bokalay Tint Aung - known affectionately by friends as Ba Ba - was painted by graffiti artist Arkar Kyaw.


"Ba Ba is a talented writer, playwright, musician, and film director. As he is talented on all sides, I wanted to honour him. He has also received Sithu award. Besides, Ba Ba is 93 years old now. So I wanted to honour him with my arts," said sculptor Kyaw Kyaw Min.


A sculpture of Bokalay Tint Aung will be created in concrete and the process recorded on video and distributed to Myanmar Motion Picture Organisation. The paintings and graffiti will also be given to the veteran artist.


Sculptor Kyaw Kyaw Min has created sculptures of numerous famous people. He plans to create sculptures of veteran rock singer Zaw Win Htut and pop singer Chit Thu Wai after he finishes creating the sculpture of Bokalay Tint Aung.
