Myanmar weekly newspaper Myanmar Herald criticized the close ties
between the ruling party and the Union Election Commission Chairman in
its cover story recently.
Union Election Commission chairman Tin Aye was elected from the ruling
Union Solidarity and Development Party.
He was once the CEC member of the ruling USDP and attended the
conference of the party last year.
The newspaper questioned the role of the chairman who accompanied
reformist president Thein Sein on the latter's inspection tour.
The paper highlighted the regular tie between the ruling party and
1990 election commission chairman Hla Htay.
The Union Election Commission recently requested advices from the
political parties and civil societies for holding 2015 elections
freely and fairly.
