The Higher Education Departments—both of upper Myanmar and lower
Myanmar—will start building hostels for university students in next
fiscal year, according to a Voice report.
The departments are preparing to provide hostels to students of
universities, degree colleges and colleges as from this fiscal year.
The staff quarters will be used currently to provide hostels to the
university students, according to Dr Soe Win, director-general of
upper Myanmar department.
The budget for building hostels will be requested next year as the
universities to reopen their hostels to the students.
There have been nearly two decades that the universities have ceased
to provide accommodation to the students on political grounds.
Private entrepreneurs have shown less interest as the department
called partners for development through BOT as the prospect of profits
is not convincing.
