Malaysia advance to five-a-side finals

NAYPYITAW: Malaysia's five-a-side (visually impaired) football squad's advance towards the finals is its biggest achievement to date.


Malaysia beat host Myanmar 1-0 in the semi-finals which was played at the Wunna Teikdi Training Centre 1.


The team's single goal was scored by team captain Muhamad Muzwan Muhamad Shakri, five minutes before the match ended.


This event has a full time play of 50 minutes.


"This is the team's best performance ever. I'm confident our players are inspired to play the finals now.


"They're all in optimum condition and nobody's injured.


We will work with ISN (National Sports Institute) to recover their energy for tomorrow's match," said national coach, M. Shalesh to Bernama.


They are scheduled to meet Thailand at the finals today.


In another development, Malaysia also advanced to the finals in the wheelchair basketball after beating the Philippines 55-38 in the semi finals today. They will be meeting Thailand as well for the finals today. - Bernama
