Myanmar, known for its poor civil administration, will increase the
police force to 150,000 to undertake security measures in the country
where estimated 60 million population are living, according to Eleven
Myanmar report.

According to the report citing Myanmar Police Force, the move was part
of the police force's reorganization.

The police force, currently formed with about 70,000 members was being
operated under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"The reconstitution of the MPF is now complete," Police Lt-Col Nyan
Zaw told Eleven Myanmar.

The move will double the strength of the current police force.
There are a number of branches under the police force including crime,
special branch, railway, naval, expressway, traffic and tourist police
branches.

"Annually, we train about 5,000 police for other ranking positions and
600 to 1,000 officers," said the police officer.
