Myanmar's parliament approved the signing of an MoU on border cooperation between Myanmar and India, according to the state-owned newspaper Kyemon.
Lawmaker Khin Hmway Lwin who represents Minkin constituency discussed that the purposes of signing the MoU include security measures along the borderline, anti-narcotics efforts and other illegal trade.
The agreement will also cover security cooperation between the armed forces of the two neighbouring countries.
Win Htein of Meiktila Constituency, a lawmaker from the largest opposition party National League for Democracy, also seconded the signing, saying the country is urgent need of stability along the borderline.
He said the neighbours are of no choice, underscoring the need to abide by the agreement by both sides.
