MANILA—Asiawide Refreshments Corp is building two production facilities in Thailand and Myanmar this year as part of the RC Cola license holder's expansion across Southeast Asia.

On the sidelines of The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Annual Reception for the Banking Community last Friday night, Asiawide chairman Alfredo Yao told reporters that each plant will have an annual capacity of 25 million cases, but declined to comment on the amount of investment for the two facilities.

Asiawide is the license holder of RC Cola in Southeast Asia and the expansion will allow the company to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the planned regional integration that will bring down barriers to trade by 2015.

Asiawide intends to sell shares to finance its domestic and regional expansion following the completion of its backdoor listing in the first quarter of the year.

Last year, Asiawide consolidated its assets into Maybank ATR Kim Eng Financial Corp, which will later be renamed Macay Holdings Inc. This after Yao-led investment firm Mazy's Capital Inc completed the P3.19-billion takeover of Maybank ATR last October.

RC Cola has an annual capacity of 100 million cases in the Philippines.

Yao also owns thrift lender Philippine Business Bank, beverage company Zest-O and low-cost carrier Zest Air, which has Air Asia Inc of Malaysian billionaire Tony Fernandes as its investor and partner.
