Shija to embark on another goodwill mission to Myanmar

Imphal, March 15 2014 :
After the two successful missions, Mission Myanmar Phase III of Shija, another goodwill ambassador to bring India and Myanmar in general and Sagaing and Manipur in particular closer for growth and development will set off to render free surgical treatment to cleft lip and palate patients and also to perform free laparoscopic surgeries at Monywa General Hospital, Myanmar from March 20 to 23 .
The mission is a triangular effort of Indian Consulate General, Mandalay and Myanmar Government; Smile Train Shija cleft project and Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI) .
A team of 14 members will be flagged off from Raj Bhawan by Governor of Manipur Shri VK Duggal on March 17 at 9.50 am.
The team will reach Monywa on March 19 and start the camp on March 20 which will be continued till March 23.More than 100 cleft lip and palate patients and over 30 patients with gall stone, appendicitis, hernias and ovarian swellings are registered at Monywa General Hospital.
The team members are Dr Kh Palin and Dr Partha Sadhu, Consultant Plastic Surgery, SHRI; Dr.Jugindra.S, Consultant MAS and General Surgery (President East Zone AMASI); Dr Th Dinesh and Dr.T.Kennedy, Consultant in Anesthesiology, SHRI; Dr.Parikh Harsh Kashyap, Resident Anesthesiology; Dr Kh Chetan, Medical Officer; Dr.Venkateswara Rao Gurram, Resident, General Surgery, RK Romen OT Technician, Shima Y, Nutanmanjuri.
Th.and L.Indira, Nurse; Premjit L, Asst Manager Business Development and Arun Ng, IT Assistant.
The 3rd mission is again consented by Chief Minister of Saigang Division.
Hospitality and transportation for the team will be arranged by the Saigang Government, Myanmar.
As a contribution towards the neighbouring country, a team from Shija Hospitals marked its beginning by starting the venture of "Mission Myanmar Phase I for cleft lip and palate" in May 2013.103 operations were performed on 87 cleft patients during the mission.
In continuation of its service to Myanmar, "Mission Myanmar Phase II for sight" was performed by Shija Eye Care Foundation in Dec 2013 which was sponsored by our Honourable Chief Minister of Manipur.
The mission was also a successful one where 179 cataract patients were operated.
