Top Gear tonight – episode 7 of series 21, and part two of the Christmas Special Burma Road Trip – sees the boys heading for the River Kwai to build a bridge.
In best Top Gear tradition, series 21 ended up just five episodes long, with last weeks episode being the first part of the Top Gear Christmas Special road trip through Burma.
Having got to grips with their less than cutting edge lorries and suffered the Burmese equivalent of truckers' overnight truck stops, Clarkson, May and Hammond are now heading further in to uncharted territory – certainly for Western Media – as they head towards Thailand and the River Kwai.
The TG team are tasked with building a Bridge over the River Kwai, so much of tonight's episode will doubtless be devoted to that task, and no doubt highlight both the incompetence and ineptness of Richard, James and Jeremy.
But we hope there will be a serious moment or two where Top Gear make it clear that the POWs forced to build the Bridge over the River Kwai by the Japanese in WWII is far from a joke.
And that's it for Series 21, although there is a whisper Top Gear may be back with a one-off special featuring the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder tackling the Top Gear track at Dunsfold in the next few months.
And a little bird tells us they may have been able to get their hands on LaFerrari too. Which would make that a very special episode.
Top Gear – part 2 of the Christmas Special Burma Road Trip (episode 7 of series 21) – is on BBC2 at 8pm.
