MANILA: Adisak Kraisorn scored twice as Thailand joined the Philippines in the semi-finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup with a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Malaysia on Wednesday.
In a match that was delayed for two and a half hours because of a lightning warning at Jalan Besar Stadium, striker Amri Yahyah gave Malaysia the lead in the 29th minute when he drove a low shot across Thai goalkeeper Kawin Thammasatchanan and into the bottom corner of the net.
However, the Thais levelled two minutes before the break when Charyl Chappuis' low cross from the left found Adisak who fired an unstoppable low shot past Khairul Fahmi Che Mat. Safiq Rahim restored Malaysia's lead in the 61st minute with a fine individual effort after a strong run run into the Thai box. But fine work by Chanathip Songkrasin set up Chappuis to fire home his second goal of the tournament to level the score again 11 minutes later.
Adisak then delivered the coup de grace in the final minute as he capped off a fine break by firing a right-footed shot into the net to give the Thais their second win in a row after a 2-1 victory over defending champions Singapore in their opening game.
Singapore revived their campaign by picking up their first three points with a 4-2 win over Myanmar at the National Stadium.
