Thailand undisturbed by two separate earthquakes in Myanmar and India

BANGKOK, 28 November 2014 (NNT) - A 4.6 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar and another 5.2 magnitude earthquake in India has struck earlier this morning at around 8:00AM.

The Seismological Bureau under the Meteorological Department has reported that an earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter Scale has occurred at the heart of Myanmar at 8:09AM. The quake is about 160 kilometers southwest from Sob Moei District of Mae Hong Son province in Thailand.

Nine minutes later at 8:18PM, the 5.2 magnitude quake followed off the Andaman Islands in India. This quake, however, was about 697 kilometers southwest of Sai Yok District of Kanchanaburi province in Thailand.

Mr. Burin Wechbunterng, the director of the bureau, has downplayed the people's concerns by saying that these two earthquakes would not affect Thailand in anyway.
