PETALING JAYA, Dec 3 — City police believe the motive behind the kidnap-murder of a Myanmar national on Nov 12 could be over a drug deal that went wrong.
City CID chief ACP Khairi Ahrasa said investigations revealed the assailants were known to the victim.
"We investigated the victim's background and found he owns a restaurant in Sentul and provides food delivery service to Myanmar workers in Pasar Borong Selayang," he said.
Khairi said police believed the victim was involved in a drug deal with the four men who kidnapped him.
"We have learned two of the suspects are Myanmar nationals. The duo carried out the kidnapping with the help of two local accomplices."

Khairi said initial forensic findings suggested the victim was murdered a day after he was kidnapped. The victim had four slash wounds on his body and also several cuts that suggested he could have been tortured.
One of the suspects, arrested on Nov 20, told police the victim was already dead and that was how the body was discovered.
Khairi said on the day of the incident, the 30-year-old victim was at his restaurant when the armed suspects ambushed and attacked him in front of his customers and family members at 5pm.
The victim's wife, who witnessed the incident, said the suspects slashed her husband and bundled him into a car before speeding off.
