The visit to Thailand and Myanmar runs from December 12 to 18.

Colonel Khun Okkar, United Nationalities Federal Council joint-secretary (1) told Mizzima, "In the meeting, we will talk about the difficulties in the peace process in Myanmar and about what they [The Elders] will be able to do to help us."

Ma Naw Wa Khoo Shel of the Women League of Burma said, "We will talk about general issues in the meeting, but we will focus on raising the issues concerning violation of women's rights, discussing the role of women in the country's peace process and talking about international investment in Myanmar."

It includes Nobel Peace Laureate and former Finland president Mr Martti Ahtisaari, the former Algerian foreign minister Mr Lakhdar Brahimi and Pakistani human rights defender Ms Hina Jilani, according to the announcement of the visit.
