YANGON, April 28 (Bernama) -- Myanmar's second largest northern city of Mandalay received more than 400,000 foreign visitor arrivals last year, said the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
Regional immigration authorities said a total of 464,577 foreign tourists visited the country's cultural hub city in 2014, an increase of 60,385 from the previous year, Xinhua news agency reports.
The majority of visitors came from China, Japan and South Korea.
Popular tourist attractions are the Maha Muni Buddha Image, Mandalay Hill, Yankin Hill, Taungthaman Lake, Myanmar Sankyaw Golden Palace, Golden Monastery, ancient Inwa City, Kuthodaw Pagoda and Taungthaman Bridge.
The tourism ministry has projected 500,000 international tourist arrivals to Mandalay this year.
Some 3.05 million foreigners visited the country in 2014, up 49.5 percent from 2013.
