Storm damaged Burma camp sub-station affecting the transformers that led to power blackout in many areas of Dimapur town.
In a statement Executive Engineer of the Dimapur Electrical Division Moameren informed that yesterday's storm blew off CGI sheets from a temporary Conference Hall, which fell on top of the Transformer causing short circuit and damaging it.
He said 10 MVA, 66/11 KV transformer and 33 KV and 11 KV bay were destroyed by the storm.
Standby Transformer that was kept for emergency purposes was also damaged, he added.
He informed that due to the storm the Veterinary Office, Tourist Lodge, Civil Hospital, Nagarjan, Purana Bazaar and Airport area were also affected.
He said parts of the Transformers were completely damaged and would need replacement.
The engineer said load shedding would be imposed in the above mentioned feeders till the affected transformer was restored and put into the circuit.
He has requested consumers to bear the inconvenience as the department was trying its best to restore normal power supply.
He assured that the Department is trying its best to restore normal power supply as early as possible.UNI AS AD RN AE GC1425
