The order, which will take effect today (May 11), transfers the 14 officers from Ranong, Phang Nga and Satun to the Royal Thai Police Operations Centre where they are to remain until further notice.

The officers' ranks range from superintendent to squad leader. Among them are four police colonels, while three are chiefs of police stations in Ranong and another in Phang Nga.

An investigation will be launched to see if they played a role in the Rohingya trafficking ring and the discovery of mass graves at illegal Rohingya detention camps in Songkhla and Phang Nga.

More than 50 police officers working in the South have already been transferred to inactive posts since the discovery of a mass grave site in tambon Padang Besar in Songkhla's Sadao district on May 1.
