Myanmar reached a peace agreement with Wa rebels in a meeting between a government committee and the rebel group in remote Wa region in Shan State.
The agreement between Myanmar government's peace-making committee and United Wa State Army features five points.
UWSA made commitment not to secede from Myanmar, according to the agreement.
The ceasefire between the government troops and the UWSA was agreed as well.
The agreement between the government and Wa army of more than 30000 troops dates back to 1989.
Myanmar and UWSA signed an initial peace agreement brokered by UN special envoy to Myanmar Vijay Nambiar to endure the talks in May.
They both agreed to continue talks as regards military issues.
