The Myanmar government is setting up a ecotourism camps in Chin
State's landmark Riah Lake and two other mountainous regions in the
country, said the country's environment minister Win Tun in a
parliamentary session.

The country's northern state already has two ecotourism sites

"Ecotourism services can be provided in places like Riah Lake and the
Natmataung," a Chin State resident, who was not named, was quoted as
saying.

"Transportation is crucial in order to do this. Guest houses are also
needed for the tourists. I heard that a building is being built at the
Riah Lake but I don't know whether it will be used for tourism
industry or not," the source said.

"If we are going to provide eco-tourism service, we need to cooperate
with local and foreign entrepreneurs," a Chin State lawmaker Zozam
said.

He called on the government to draft the law to avoid situation of
"building castles in the air".

He also recommended the local government to take the lead.
Myanmar has drafted Tourism Master Plan with the support of the Asian
Development Bank and the Norwegian government.

The government is seeking parliamentary approval for the project.
