Thailand, which is one of the largest investors second only to China,
has invested USD 410 million in first half of this year, a top
government official told the parliament.
Thailand is currently topping the chart of leading investors in
Myanmar with USD 410 million in last six years, distantly followed by
Vietnam with USD 140 million and Singapore with USD 136 million.
Currently, Thailand has invested USD 10 billion and China, USD 15
billion in their neighbouring country.
They have been persistently holding the top spots for years.
According to official figures, Thailand is the second largest trade
partner of Myanmar with the trade volume of USD 4.5 billion.
Thailand has been Myanmar's second largest investor and trade partner
since the country was isolated from the west by economic sanctions.
After the enactment of new foreign investment law, Myanmar is now
attracting more investors and trading partners, bringing back the
competition into the country's economy.
