MYANMAR SIGNS GROUNDBREAKING NUCLEAR AGREEMENT

Myanmar government has signed a nuclear agreement with International
Atomic Energy Agency on 17 September, official media reported.

The agreement was signed at IAEA General Conference in Vienna as it
promised the signing of the Additional Protocol of the nuclear energy
agency.

"This is a very welcome development, one that is consistent with many
positive signs that Burma is really trying to change its image,"
according to a commentary by Norway-based media outlet DVB.
Myanmar government has been constantly accused of the bid for secret
nuclear weapons and its links with North Korea.

The groundbreaking signing was promptly welcomed by the international
community.

Despite more than two years of democratic transition and positive
changes and the Thein Sein administration's ambitious moves towards
signing of nation-wide cease fire and peace accord, Myanmar could not
still end the longest running civil war with Kachin rebels.
