MYANMAR TO GET AIRPORTS SAFER

Civil aviation authorities in Myanmar are planning to upgrade its
safety control systems at six airports in Myanmar including the most
crowded Yangon International Airport, according to the local newspaper
The Voice report.

Japanese firms which would provide services to upgrade the security
system made a joint statement about the plan.

Sumitomo Corporation, NEC Corporation, NEC Networks System
Integration Corporation (NESIC) and Toshiba Corporation and Morita
Corporation said they would help Myanmar airports install advanced
safety system.

The International Civil Aviation Organization would provide
sophisticated equipment for safety of flights that land Yangon,
Mandalay, NyaungU, Heho, Thandwe and Dawei airports.

Sumitomo Corporation also announced that it would team up with other
partners including NEC for safety system of rail system in Thilawa
Special Economic Zone.
