WORLD BANK TO LOANS USD 120 MILLION FOR EDUCATION REVIEW

World Bank has planned to loan 120 million to implement National Comprehensive Education Review being initiated by the Education Ministry in cooperation with international organizations and other ministries, local newspaper The Voice reported, citing an official of World Bank.

The loans will be granted in two installments on recommendations of the educational experts of the World Bank and its research findings.

The timeframe of the loans could not be revealed as the research of the international financial institute is underway, according to the source.

The research could take from six months to one year.

"We still can't confirm anything now as we are in drafting process with the World Bank. It's in negotiation," a director of the Education Planning and Training Department under the Education Ministry.

World Bank research on Myanmar's education will be led by researcher James A Steven.

The report on the National Comprehensive Education Review initiated since 2012 is expected to come out in 2014.
