NLD TO PARTICIPATE IN 2015 ELECTIONS

Myanmar's largest opposition party the National League for Democracy will field candidates in 2015 general elections even if the constitutional reform doesn't take place, according to the AP report.

Chairperson of the National League for Democracy Aung San Suu Kyi confirmed that the party will participate in 2015 polls.

But she said the elections would not be fair if the constitution is not amended.

The National League for Democracy is pressing for the constitutional reforms, holding a series of public talks on constitutional reforms.

The constitution bars the Nobel laureate pro-democracy leader from becoming the President of the country.

"I want to say that the NLD will contest the 2015 elections," party spokesman Nyan Win is also quoted as saying.

The parliamentary constitutional reform committee is reviewing the constitution and accepting the suggestions from various political organizations in the country.
