Hesitation to amend the country's controversial constitution is
dishonesty, said Myanmar's Nobel laureate opposition leader Aung San
Suu Kyi.
The chairperson of the National League for Democracy made the comment
in meeting with Myanmar family in Doha of Qatar on December 11.
She was in Doha of Qatar to attend the World Innovation Summit for
Health which was also attended by Myanmar's revered monk Ven
Nyannissara.
"If we want democracy, we need to have the mindset to amend the
constitution. If anyone lacks that spirit, he/she doesn't want
democracy really," she said.
The constitution bars the parliamentarian from becoming the president
of Myanmar as her sons are citizens of a foreign country.
She said the constitutional reform was not to take revenge.
