China is increasingly importing more rice from Myanmar than before, Yangon Media Group reported, citing the Muse border rice merchants.

"Chinese rice merchants buy more rice from Myanmar as the authorities strictly inspect rice from the Vietnamese border," said Min Thein, a rice merchant from Muse.

Myanmar is currently importing 3500 tons of rice each day to China since previous December, compared with 3000 tons in November.

"They buy more 10000 rice bags each Day in December than in previous month," he said.

Despite the rising demand, the rice price in the border town Muse is stable.

"As it is harvest, the supply is also high. We only depends on the Chinese market currently," a rice merchant Naing Win said.
