JAPANESE RESEARCHERS OBSERVE MYANMAR’S SALON INDIGENOUS PEOPLE

A group of researchers from a Japanese University has conducted a research on Salon indigenous people in Myeik Archipelago, Eleven report.


Dr Seji Ohawa and Dr Atsumo Shimodu of Otsuma University of Tokyo led the team of researchers who made a seven day field trip to the southern part of Myanmar.


They visited Done Nyaung Hmine, Done Pale Aw and Palaw Wun villages of Salon people on December 23-29.

"Research activities were conducted at three villages where most Salon people live. They also observed other village," region ethnic affairs minister Tin Soe told Eleven.


They conducted research on health, education and IQ of Salon people and the research cover more than 400 young people.
According to the minister, the university's research team will send their key findings to the region minister.
