Myanmar will establish its first Caustic Soda and Polyvinyl Chlorid (PVC) plan in Thaton District in Mon State, according to a local newspaper Voice report.
Deputy Industry Minister Myint Aung said the government will invest USD 100 million in the project.
The factory near Mayantaung village in Thaton District will have the production capacity of more than 50,000 tons each year.
The deputy minister assured that the gardens would not be acquired by the project which he said would have the least impact to the environment as it would employ Iron Exchange Process.
The project will be initiated on 87-acre land owned by the Ministry of Industry to produce the essential ingredient for consumer goods.
The ministry will also allow local companies and Japanese, Korean and Chinese firms which produce products using caustic soda to open factories in the complex.
