Squatting could become the largest unsettled issue in Myanmar amidst
increasing land grab allegations, according to the Popular News
Journal report which cited Yangon region investigation commission into
the land acquisition.
"It could hamper the stable political process," the former Yangon mayor said.
The issue could not be settled solely by evicting and taking actions
against illegal squatters, the member of lower house said.
"The people who has no place to live on should be settled in any
vacant land after systematic consideration," he is quoted as saying.
The MP is about to submit the low-cost housing bill to the parliament soon.
He commented on the issue that it would reverse the political
development of the country.

Singapore-based Navigat's subsidiary Maxpower has won the contract by
Myanmar government to generate and distribute electricity in Myanmar,
according to the Voice report.
The company was allowed to generate electricity from a gas-fired power
plant in Thakayta Township and distribute electricity to some parts of
Yangon, the commercial city of Myanmar, according to associate

Maxpower has built 50 megawatt gas-fired power plant under an
agreement with the Myanmar government.
The sale agreement was signed between the state-owned Myanmar Electric
Power Enterprise and Maxpower on February 17.
The contract made Maxpower the first foreign company to sell
electricity in Myanmar.
It has invested USD 35 million in the power plant and will employ
advanced technologies to distribute electricity in Myanmar.
