PHUKET: Police are still searching for murder suspect Maung Myo, a Myanmar national, 12 days after French tourist Fabrice Boigeol was found bludgeoned to death in a bungalow in Rawai.

On Saturday (April 26), police arrested Myanmar national Shwe Oo Dam, 23, on murder and robbery charges, after CCTV camera footage from the area connected Shwe and his friend, Maung, 24, to the crime.
Police said Shwe confessed to being involved in the crime, but told police Maung was the one who killed Mr Boigeol.
Pol Col Sittisak Wasasiri of Chalong Police Station, told The Phuket News that police believed the pair went together to commit the crime, and both would probably try to blame the other for the fatal blow that killed Mr Boigeol.
"Even if they try and pass the guilt to the other person, both of them will get equal punishment, which could be a life sentence," he told The Phuket News today.
Col Sittisak said that, from investigations so far, police believed the two Burmese were involved in several robberies around 2am on Friday (April 18). First they robbed a premises opposite Wat Chalong, then went further south to Rawai.
There, they arrived at the Moragot Resort in Rawai to find there was no security guard at the entrance. Col Sittisak said the pair entered bungalow number three and stole a towel and shampoo, and then went into bungalow number five – where Mr Boigeol was staying. The Burmese men then bashed the sleeping Mr Boigeol with a plank of wood, killing him instantly.
Col Sittisak said that reports that either one or both of the men knew Mr Boigeol and had fought with him on an earlier occasion were untrue.
"I don't believe it. I don't believe anything this man says."
