Film Festival celebrates 60 years of Myanmar-Israel ties

YANGON—The first Israeli film festival in Myanmar opens this weekend (November 24-27) at Nay Pyi Taw Cinema in Yangon.

"To mark the 60-year anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Myanmar and Israel, we are celebrating with this film festival. It's also a cultural exchange between the two countries," said an official from the Israeli Embassy.

"Aviva My Love," the opening film, depicts the lives of women. Other screenings will include "The Syrian Bride," "By Summer's End," and "Desperado Square," which have won outstanding achievement awards in Israel for their directors and actors.  Action movies and dramas will also be shown at the festival.
