Indian IT giant Infosys will help Myanmar formulate its e-governance strategy as the reformist government led by president Thein Sein has been apparently seeking ways through e-governance system in vain, according to a Business Standard report.
The India's second largest IT solutions provider has taken up a consulting project from Myanmar government to devise the blueprint for its e-governance system.
Myanmar's Nobel laureate democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi visited the headquarters of Infosys last November, according to the report, to discuss the role of IT in development of the Southeast Asian country.
It had pledged a training programme for 100 engineering students from Myanmar.
Infosys is a leading IT company involved in the e-government system of India, with some initiatives for government agencies.
Global IT giants Cisco, HP, Google and Microsoft sent executives to the country last year under an arrangement of US Agency for International Development.
Microsoft has entered Myanmar market with a partnership deal with local IT firm Myanmar Information Technology last year.
