The ancient palace in Myanmar's cultural city Mandalay will get major
refurbishments, reported the Voice, according to the local government.

Dr Myint Kyu, finance minister of Mandalay region government, said the
government would employ high technologies in preserving the ancient
palace where the last Myanmar monarch lived.

The preservation works would be started in February and the
construction companies will offer preservation options to the
government, the minister noted.

Mandalay City Development Committee, the registered construction
company, will assess the bids from more than 10 construction companies
for preservation of the palace.

"High technologies would be applied for long-term preservation. Some
companies would propose the best options in consultation with
Vietnamese and Thai experts," said the minister.

Art Construction has started drafting designs for preservation of the
palace known as "Mya Nan San Kyaw Golden Palace", according to a
company official.

The management of the palace was handed over by the Ministry of
Culture to the local government in 2013.
