International energy giants won contracts for exploration of oil and
natural gas onshore and offshore Rakhine and Taninthayi coasts,
according to the Voice report.
These include international giants from US, Australia, Japan, India
and Europe, according to the Ministry of Energy.
BG Group of UK, Chevron of US, Conoco Phillips, Shell from Holland,
Eni from Italy, Mitsui Oil from Japan, Total EP from France, Reliance
Industries from India and Woodside from Australia won contracts for
oil blocks.
It could take about three months to grant licenses to these companies
as there are detail conditions to be negotiated.
Chinese and Thai companies are not included in the tender.
